Color TMNT Groupshot

Since last week, I've been real antsy about wanting to play with the paints some more- so, over this past weekend I inked up a Turtle groupshot with the idea that I would color it and take it with me to Toronto. Even though there's probably other things that I should be doing, yesterday afternoon I went downstairs to the official Mirage Studios lunchroom ( I needed a big space) and spent a few hours with my watercolors.

  1. Can I just sign my last few pay checks over to you guys now?? Because I am leaving this convention with no money *laughs*

This is just beautiful Jim, like literally "wow" my eyes bugged out gorgeous!

And good for you!! You deserve to have a relaxing afternoon playing a little hooky and doing something that you just enjoyed doing! People would be happier overall if they did this for themselves more!

  2. Awesome group shot, Jim. Whoever ends up with this will be one happy fan. I see Pete posted an update about this on his blog too, with photos (and an AT-AT in the background).

  7. LOL "shell".

Its very nice Jim. I think you're doing awesome with the colors. (and I will silently envy you, lol) I don't think you'll have any trouble selling it at all :D I agree with Demon, lucky fan who will get it!

I also enjoyed the photos of you coloring it... I'm beginning to realize the entire lot of you a) have blogs and b) are close friends. Thats really cool to have that sense of community. :) Anyway, great art, wanna see more!

  8. Really nice piece, no question. Happy I got to see the process work on Pete's blog as well. And here I thought Steve and Eric were the only painters. I would def want a print of this, if one were available. And I agree, whoever gets this at FanExpo will be one lucky dude.

  10. How much do you generally sell something like this for at a convention?

  11. -->> ..some reason , has an old- school TALES OF THE TMNT v.1 feel to it.

  12. I hope this will result in more painting from Lawson. Maybe some covers or even a painted story (like Stan Sakai's upcoming painted Usagi graphic novel).

  13. Price for something like this? It's tough for me to say just what something like this would be worth, or what people would be willing to pay. My best guess would be, say- $150. for a B&W groupshot, and another $100. for the coloring.
