New York Comic Con

The 2009 New York Comic Con is now in the can. The show itself was great- although I have to say that it was very likely the busiest show I've ever done. I want to thank all the people who stopped by the tables and took time to talk to us and hang out. I saw many new faces but what always makes a show for me are the familiar "core" fans that always seem to make the effort to be there for us.
I was hoping to have some tales of after hours misadventure but we were all mysteriously well-behaved. I didn't embarrass myself at all, I don't think. Maybe we're just getting old.
Anyways, thought I'd post a few examples of commission sketches that were done over the weekend.

  1. hi Jim,

It was great seeing you and rest of the crew at the show. I really love the sketch you did for me, so I thought I'd post a photo to share: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e62/paleshadow18/DSCN0282.jpg

  3. Those are some cool sketches. I really wish that I could have been able to make it out there, but I have my little angel so it is ok.

  4. It was def. great meeting and talking with you for a bit there Jim.
Your def. a great guy and this isn't usually the case when meeting people but I gained allot more respect for you because of our chat.
I'll be talking to you soon and I do hope you'll let me know what you think of my custom Complete Carnage figure.
Lets talk soon about that comission also.

  5. Had a lot of fun at the NYCC this weekend, mostly because of the Mirage artists, Jim in particular, who was nice enough to sketch a Rat King for me, as well as participate in a Jam piece Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird started for me with Raphael and Donatello respectively (Jim added Leonardo with a great crouching pose I just love). I left the piece with Steve Lavigne who should be finishing it off with Michelangelo and then hopefully mailing it back to me.

Thanks for the sketches, Jim, and thanks for chatting (I hope I wasn't too annyoning). I like the pieces you posted above here as well (I wonder what Raph did to set off Don like that).

    Thanks again!

  6. Hey Jim! Thank you so SO much for that pic of Don and Raph sparring! You are the greatest! I'm glad that you guys had fun and I think we were all too tired by the end of the day to really misbehave!

It was so great seeing all of you this weekend. Once again, you guys at Mirage made the con for my friends and I. We really appreciate all the time you spend talking to us.

I love my art work! Can't wait to see you all again in Toronto!

    Thanks again!

  8. Sketches? Man, Jim - these are amazing. Will you be at San Diego this year (assuming our economic infrastructure doesn't collapse by then)?

  10. Yeah (fingers crossed) I will be in San Diego this summer- along with Dooney, Talbot and Lavigne. Hopefully Murph and Berger too, although I'm not entirely sure about them.
I had an awesome time in NY, and I'm still enjoying the contact high from meeting everybody. Against my will, I participated in the Turtle documentary on Monday and admittedly it was cool talking about our relationship with the fans and how it almost feels like a family. Thanks again to all.
